The owners of WPT Biobased, René Wesselman and Mart van Tol invented the idea of a sustainable growing pot. In the past all kinds of tests have been done with different materials, from milkshake cups to bio-composites. When a new bio-resin was invented at the University of Amsterdam that is made from natural resources and biodegradable, WPT Biobased contacted the university. This resulted in the collaboration with spin-off Plantics.
WPT Biobased is based in Alphen aan den Rijn and is involved in product development, marketing and sales of the Bolayo. The WPT Biobased team currently consists of the following people:
René Wesselman has more than 30 years of experience in the flower industry and has been the owner of Wesselman Bloemenexport since 1989. He knows all the ins and outs of the floriculture industry.
Mart van Tol
As an entrepreneur, Mart van Tol has many years of experience with wood products, insulation and building materials. He is well-known in the world of (sustainable) wood, cardboard and its application within the packaging industry.
Ir. Laura van der Schoor
As an Industrial Design Engineer at TU Delft, Laura van der Schoor has more than 15 years of experience in product development and marketing of new products.
Drs. Rob van Ruiten
As an expert, Rob has been working in the horticultural sector for more than 25 years and has grown up in it for about 20 years. Rob has extensive experience in process and account management, marketing services and project management.
